The Association of Black Psychologists now has a home in Toronto, Ontario. As we reflect on 2019, we believe it is important to share and disseminate knowledge of both the historical and contemporary contributions of Black psychologists, social workers, psychotherapists and mental health professionals. In 2020, we will continue to challenge the hegemonic paradigms, racist beliefs and systemic practices which contribute to the disparities, disproportionalities and poor mental health for African Canadians.
It is critical to respect to African Ancestry and to provide mental health, psychotherapy, social work and psychological services that are ethical, do not reproduce harm and are grounded in African Canadian worldviews.
